Journal Notes: Mealtime Adventures Revisited

About 15 years ago, my friend Ariella and I were in the throes of raising our children.  Both our families were struggling with health and food allergies.  We teamed up and created a website that we managed for about 5 years: Mealtime Adventures.  The purpose to was to encourage and support each other as we faced crazy medical and dietary needs.  We hoped that our journey would help others as well.

While the site was up we had great feedback.  It was a sad day when we decided to pull the plug. Our children were doing better. Life got busy. Our kids needed us and we helped them navigate their way into the world. The handful that remain at home are nearing graduation.  Now it is time to rediscover who we are and the needs of bodies that are not so young anymore. Ariella is off on amazing hiking adventures and meeting incredible fitness goals. I still live in the kitchen.

The early 2000's was a time of many people becoming mad scientists in the kitchen.  Discovery of how to use traditional and non-traditional foods to create nutritious food for our families was thrilling.  It is incredible to see how many tasty options sprang out of the kitchens of perhaps hundreds of people and into the market place.  How much easier it is today than 40 years ago and even 15 years ago to access options that fit with a variety of dietary needs.

I hesitantly step forward to create "yet another food blog". With encouragement from some friends and with a recent health hiccup that forced me to have to be creative in the kitchen again, I am opening my kitchen and latest leg of this journey to any who may find what I have discovered to be helpful.

With no further adieu, welcome to Mealtime Adventures Revisited. Bon Appetit!
